We’re delighted to share that our apprentice Killian Murphy has been shortlisted in the Apprentice of the Year category at the upcoming Plumbing & Heating Awards Ireland 2025! 👏

Killian joined M&P Mechanical in April 2022, following in the footsteps of his brother Kayden Murphy, who has been part of the team since June 2021. Before beginning his apprenticeship, Killian completed a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours) in English and Human Development, a four-year degree; before deciding to follow his passion for hands-on work and join the plumbing trade.

Since joining M&P Mechanical, Killian has made a real impression; not just through his skill and workmanship, but through his positive attitude and strong work ethic. He has played a key role on several of our projects, including Clay Farm, Carriglea and the recently handed-over Shanganagh development, where his attention to detail and teamwork stood out.

At Dundalk Institute of Technology, Killian has excelled in both practical and theory elements of his training. His lecturer, Paddy Carroll, described him as “a benchmark for other students,” praising his “leadership, patience, and exceptional understanding of the plumbing trade.”

In 2024, Killian proudly represented Dundalk IT at the WorldSkills Ireland Competition in the The RDS; an incredible achievement that showcased his dedication, technical ability, and passion for his craft among the best apprentices in Ireland.

We couldn’t be prouder of Killian and all he has accomplished so far. His nomination is a well-deserved recognition of his talent, determination, and bright future ahead in the trade. 🌟

Best of luck at the awards, Killian — everyone at M&P Mechanical is behind you! 💪🍀
